Candle lights in windows, cheerful songs resonating in stores, the sweet scent of braised meats tickling your nose… come see how the Norwegians make their Christmas season “hyggelig” on our tour Oslo’s Christmas Spirit.
Strolling through the streets of Oslo just a few days before Christmas is like finding a perfect illustration for the word “cosy”. Lamps glittering over snow-covered pavements, wooden stands from which the good smell of hot drinks emanates, trolls and elves proudly standing on the sidewalks and in many stores: everything here is made to forget the darkness of the days and to live the Christmas season with a true and contagious feeling of joy!
During our Oslo’s Christmas Spirit tour, you will live the Norwegian Christmas experience to the fullest. You will learn why the Norwegians are historically divided when answering the question: “what is THE traditional Norwegian Christmas dinner?”. You will discover the very local concepts of “lille Julaften” and “romjulen”, along with the famous Scandinavian tradition of “Julebord”. You will enjoy a cosy promenade through streets filled with lights and decorations and you will taste some of Norway’s typical winter drink, gløgg (mulled wine). A stone’s throw from the Royal Palace, you will also visit - of course! - Oslo’s finest Christmas market with its famous outdoor ice skating rink.
Other things to note
Please be at the departure point, Youngstorget, by the fountain in the middle of the square - located in the City Center, 10 minutes early to check-in for your tour. We suggest wearing warm and comfortable shoes and clothes in many layers since the majority of this tour is outdoors.

I'm the founder of OURWAY Tours, specialising guided tours within Scandinavia. I started in Stockholm, 2011, as a qualified guide with the question: What do people enjoy when they travel? The answer we found, is to: "Meet the people, try the food, live the stories" and so that's what we do.
Our team of handpicked locals want nothing more than to share their love for the city with you. If you're lucky you'll tour with: Craig, Lucy, Romy or Sandra.
In short, we give you "people, places, and culture—the local way".

The tour was delightful and informative. Our guide, Craig, was friendly and knowledgeable. It was fun learning about Norwegian Christmas traditions that date back to Pagan times. We also got to try gløgg which is so nice on a chilly night.
