A TOUR WITH A CONSCIOUSNESS.
This tour is about celebrating diversity. It is about understanding that the world we live in, and Barcelona specifically, would not be possible without the cooperation between people with very different cultural backgrounds.
Chronologically, we visit places in the city shaped by Roman writing, Jewish communities, Arab kingdoms, Catholic priests, the colonial period, the Spanish Civil War, Human Rights, the LGTBI community, refugees, athletes and others. It was this mix that created a unique place. This tour provides a space to think of how diversity led to the development of the vibrant, exciting Barcelona that we know today.
But ever since the city was first settled 11,000 years ago by Neolithic people, Barcelona has missed from this mixture one group of people.
Who might they be?
This question will take us our last stop at La Sagrada Familia, the masterpiece designed by Modernist architect Antoni Gaudí. We will reflect on why Gaudí stepped outside the traditional laws of architecture to embrace the light inside the building and honour the beauty of the natural world and how his interest is relevant to the protection of nature.
Our final stop will give us the clues to understand who the last group of people in our puzzle of historical cultures are, and by doing that, I hope that you will look at the world around with slightly different eyes.
Other things to note
The tour should last approximately 3 hours, including the short underground trip to La Sagrada Familia.
- Bring comfortable shoes
- Bring an umbrella if it looks overcast.

My name is Euri. At the age of 16, I had the opportunity to live for two years in the tiny African kingdom of Eswatini. I went on my own, and despite the language barrier, I found the Swazi people friendly and welcoming. I learned that despite our very different cultural backgrounds, people are very alike everywhere.
After graduation in the UK, I worked in conservation and sustainable development projects in South Africa, Madagascar, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy, Bosnia, and Scotland. Lastly, in Barcelona, I have found a very deep and personal connection to Gaudi’s reverence for nature.
I started running this tour in person just over 2 months before the pandemic hit. Around 300 people joined and 111/112 participants reviewed the experience with a 5/5 rating.

Perfect Barcelona tour! Euri is a great storyteller, connecting pieces of information in a very delicate way. I learned a lot and really enjoyed his take on barcelona - focusing on diversity, working together with each other, working together with nature - being tolerant and mindful and how it has affected the city! Best of all, I knew nearly nothing about spanish history and now I am hooked to investigate the topics Euri covert in his tour a bit more!
Thank you!

Euri’s tour is a must-do! I highly, highly recommend this for someone who wants a solid overview of Barcelona’s background and layout. I wanted to book a shorter walking tour for my Mother and I, so we could get a quick overview of the old city and learn some history. Not only was Euri personable, knowledgeable, and welcoming, but he really went above and beyond to give us an idea of the depth of beauty and connectivity in Barcelona’s culture. He also gave us some essential tips for the rest of our trip. We were truly pleased. Euri is a sensible person with a great perspective and an excellent understanding of Barcelona’s rich history. Highly recommended!!

I went on this experience in March shortly before the shutdown of the world for covid-19. It was a fantastic 3 hours of guided travel and intellectual considerations of Barcelona’s place in history and in the present. Exploring religion’s role, social responsibility, and the value of diversity and each individual’s responsibility to take notice and, hopefully, action in their own lives.
Lots of anecdotes, beautiful locations, coffee, laughs and a final destination of Sagrada Família. I’m a single 66 year old woman traveling alone and this was a great group experience.
