You will start a day from a walking tour in Jizodo. Located in the center of the Izu Peninsula and at the foot of Mt. Amagi, “Jizodo” area boasts traditional Japanese landscapes like “Tanada” (terraced rice fields) and wasabi fields. Mt. Amagi Range has rich rainfall throughout the year and its soil contains volcanic ash. The water in this area is rich in mineral and also has a purification effect, which makes this area active in wasabi cultivation. Bamboo forests stretch in the mountainous area and there are Shitake mushroom cultivation with raw lumbers. There is also the food culture of game meat like deer and wild boar.
After visiting the rich landscapes, you go to a restaurant"RAKAN" run by a female chef,: OKAN in a quaint traditional Japanese style house.
At the RAKAN, you can slowly enjoy beautiful creative Japanese dishes made with plenty of local ingredients made by OKAN.
Starting with a painting-like appetizer, some dishes that express the season, rice cooked in Japanese traditional tool, etc.
OKAN explains the ingredients and talks about cooking stories one by one. And you can taste the food with not only tongue but with five senses.
