Što ćete raditi

The preparing and baking of naturally-leavened bread is usually done over the course of a couple days, so this workshop gives you hands-on experience with the steps, without waiting the full time for each.

We start with an overview on the local natural ingredients and some fun facts about the "whys" of the bread.

Next you get to feed your very own starter, give it a name, and learn how to take care of your new baby.

Then we'll cover the leaven.

While doing this we'll toss some ready to bake dough into the oven.

Then on to the dough and the folding. You'll do this for a couple rounds in class, and then can take home and finish and bake according to your schedule.

We'll of course sample the bread and discuss great custom loaves. Past students may show up and share some of their recent creations.

You'll have instructions throughout that you can take home.

Hi, I'm Jordan.

I dove deep into learning the classic method of making bread with just flour, water, and a little salt. I wanted to get the great flavour, fantastic nutrition, and incredible versatility that homemade bread brings, so I began my journey. After loads of videos, reading and re-reading books, bread class, and weeks of caring for my homegrown starter, I baked my first bread. From there I baked every weekend, and began sharing the bread and the method I'd customized for me. The reaction was unlike anything I'd experienced with a creative venture. Hence I'm sharing that method in the format I wish I had available to me when I learned: a hands-on workshop.

Every home should have fresh-baked bread. It isn't that hard - humans have been doing it from the dawn of time.

Gdje ćete biti

The class is taught in the instructor's home in Suncrest in Draper, Utah, at the South end of the Salt Lake Valley. It has a roomy modern kitchen, with immaculate views of the Wasatch Mountain Range. All ingredients are from within an hour or two of Draper.

This is probably one of the best things I’ve done in a long time. Jordan was so happy and it was so cool to see his passion about food and about bread. Legitimately one of the most interesting and lovely people I’ve ever met. Best experience — Highly recommend! Mooon Bread making was definitely one of the highlights of our Thanksgiving trip. I gave this experience as a gift to my 4 adult children and myself. Teach a child to bake ... and it’s truly the gift that keeps on giving! There are so many creative twists you can try — kalamata olive bread, mango/coconut, herb and cheese. And it’s surprisingly pretty forgiving. We’ve already baked the dough we brought home and it turned out amazing! Jordan is a very fun, knowledgeable and thoughtful host. Awesome experience — so glad we did it!

First of all, the drive up the mountain was spectacular and the views from Jordan's house were incredible. He was a thoughtful host with a welcoming sign and a spacious modern kitchen with everything ready to go. I am a seasoned cook and baker and I learned things about sourdough starter and bread that took me by surprise. I am always delighted to learn something new when it comes to cooking or baking. Everything is drawn out on a board and well explained as Jordan walks you through the sourdough starter chemistry and baking progression, ending up with amazing loaves of fresh hot sourdough to feast upon. Wow. I never knew how great "no yeast" and "sourdough starter leavened only" homemade bread could be. He sent me home with my own specially named starter that I fed for the first time right there (my new pet), and a big bowl of country loaf sourdough bread dough to bake myself at home. It was a very memorable experience and I am really happy I signed up. Each person in the world is able to make their own bread and maintain this historical tradition, passing it down to generations of new bread bakers. The sourdough technique is the perfect way to start. Take this class, you will be glad you did.

We are on the road and this was the highlight of our stay in greater salt lake area. I never baked bread before and I still got a lot of value out of this experience. This class is very well organized to make you experience every step of the sourdough baking process. We baked our first loaf of sourdough right after this class! This class was done in a safe way with everyone wearing masks. Even if you don't want to bake, you can frankly attend this class to talk about cooking/baking. Jordan has good recommendations for books/podcasts on the subject.
